Samantha Prigmore, Independent Consultant Respiratory Nurse, Network Manager South West Severe Asthma Network (RGN BSc MSc)
Sam has specialised in respiratory nursing for all of her nursing career, being one of the first respiratory nurse specialists to be appointed in the UK. She relocated to Devon 2021, having worked at St Georges Hospital, London, for over 30 years. She is currently the Network Manager for the South West Severe Asthma Network, which involves working closely with commissioners, providers and clinicians to provide high quality, equitable care for people with severe asthma in the South West region of En gland.
She has extensive experience in nursing patients with respiratory conditions, and is passionate about providing holistic care for people with respiratory disease.
She has been instrumental in developing respiratory services in both the acute and community settings, developing and redesigning respiratory services. She was the driving force behind the establishment of the Respiratory Clinical network for South West London, and held the position of clinical lead for the network.
Nationally, Sam has represented nursing in the development of the National Clinical Strategy for COPD and Asthma. She was seconded to NHS London as a member of the London Respiratory Team and has been a member of the London Respiratory Network Clinical Leadership Group.
She is actively involved in the British Thoracic Society, representing nursing on several committees, and sits on the severe asthma guidelines committee. She has previously been a Trustee for the British Lung Foundation, Chair of the Association of Respiratory Nurse Specialists and Chair of British Thoracic Society Nurse Advisory Group.
